Description

We are looking to recruit a developing Engineering Project Manager (EPM) with some technical background to join our Engineering Operations Central team (EOC), project managing several aspects of new Engineering Operations (EO) team establishment and represent EOC team in new product development meetings.

 This role would suit a recently qualified Project Manager or an experienced technical manager, looking to further develop and gain project management experience.

 Role & Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Engineering Development Manager, the role of the EOC-EPM is to support the delivery of national and international EO teams to support Ocado sites and be actively involved with new product development as a key stakeholder representative of the final product.
  • Initial planning of EO team structures at early project stage, including ramp, training, expenses and development requirements.
  • Support as a stakeholder to the Ocado Product Development Managers (PDM)
  • Creating engineering elements of user requirements with the Ocado PDMs
  • Communication across teams in different parts of the World
  • Working closely with other members of EOC and the site Senior Engineering Operations Manager (SEOM), be responsible for the successful planning, delivery, coordination, training management and technical oversight of new EO teams and secure handover to the site SEOM once “business as usual / steady state” is reached
  • Responsible for many commercial aspects of the project including input into the capital budget, raising POs, processing invoices, budget variation management and reporting
  • Enforce adherence within the EO teams to any statutory regulation including CDM regulations, Ocado Engineering Standards and H&S policies.
  • Be adaptive and willing to take on new roles and responsibilities as required

  • Some technical competence and understanding relating to both automation and general engineering
  • People management skills.
  • Persuasive, influential, able to motivate and get results positive results from people.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Proficiency with MS Project would be advantageous
  • Technical qualification, to HND or Degree level or equivalent
  • The ability to draw workable and innovative solutions from diverse teams, acceptable to all stakeholders
  • Have a “hands on”, “lead from the front”, inclusive approach to project management
  • Although based at our Hertfordshire head office, you will be working at the CFC locations across the UK and abroad (France and Canada)
