Description

In Ocean Business Systems we build some of the key services and algorithms that power our world leading grocery platform.

We are  responsible for the growth, reliability and efficiency of a platform that supports millions of deliveries a year to our customers, with innovation and technical excellence at the heart of everything we do.

Within Ocean Business Systems, we have teams working with a range of technologies including Java, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Services, React and Kafka.

Working in an informal environment with like-minded, smart and focused people, you will take up a hands-on role within our technology teams, working on real-world and business critical projects, with a good balance between autonomy and support.

What we look for:

You have or are expecting a 2:1 or 1st class degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Software Engineering or similar numerate degree, backed up by strong A-levels (or equivalent), and have demonstrable OO programming ability in Java or another OO language.

Our software engineering opportunities suit high achievers with analytical minds, who enjoy creative problem-solving and find satisfaction in seeing complex projects through from start to finish.

As well as contributing technically, we’re also looking for people who reflect our values – people who can learn fast through experimenting; who are autonomous through taking ownership and driving innovation; who are collaborative and work well in high-performing teams. We cherish an open workplace where everyone feels able and willing to contribute their ideas and opinions.

We’re all about innovation and refusing to accept the status quo, so if you’re keen to push the limits of your learning – and our technology – we want to hear from you!

What we can offer you:

This is a great opportunity for those who love solving problems; sometimes this involves looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding and fixing the problem can be extremely rewarding. This opportunity will allow you to work with complex software systems, code/deploy fixes, as well as write independent systems to make dealing with issues easier and faster for you and others.

We will pay you a competitive salary plus all our usual benefits including various staff discounts, regular socials, a variety of sports clubs plus much more.
