UX in Ocado Technology, what’s that exactly?

We are a very diverse bunch. Each of us brings something else to the team and together we lead design into a top of the range technology company building OSP (which stands for Ocado Smart Platform, selling Ocado’s innovative technology of highly successful e-commerce, fulfilment and logistics business to international retailers). OSP has been in the news lately having signed exciting deals with Casino (France) and Sobey’s (Canada). OSP clients are from around the world, and so are we. Did we say diverse already?

We work directly with developers, data scientists, product owners and writers.

What it's like to work with us, you ask?

  • Creative thinking: Ideal design process is great, however, we care more about validated solutions
  • Each of us is responsible for their work. You should make things happen
  • There will be challenges and hard times. We fail and succeed together
  • We don't simply critique ideas, we discuss potential, business implications and visual appeal
  • There is a strong work ethic and we all aspire to high standards
  • We’d like to see good experience with: IA, interaction design, prototyping and user testing. It’s perfectly fine if you feel you have more to learn on any of the steps.

The right person to fit the team:

  • We are assuming you can prove how much you’ve contributed to make the online world a better place. Your portfolio should demonstrate at least 3 projects where you contributed to create outstanding design
  • Your experience should span from research to design (sketches and pixel-perfect)
  • Because each team member works autonomously, we expect you to be able to drive UX activities with the development team; initiate and self-motivate your day to day activities
  • Your passion for work and life is contagious
  • Work is not only about graphics and colours; we need innovative ideas
  • Keen to work with other disciplines and apply empathy to them too, not just the end user
  • In one line: we need a problem solver.

What do we give back?

A real opportunity to grow and excel. You may want to sharpen a practice or work on your soft skills. Your personal development is important to us as much as it is to you
Autonomy isn’t just a word on paper. Every team member is encouraged to own their work and take pride in it. But when you need a hand, the team is always there.

We hope you can fit our amazing team. We will be looking forward to speaking with you.

What we can offer you

Within our flexible work environment, we can offer technically stretching work, a competitive salary and share schemes. Benefits include a generous pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, free shuttle bus from Hatfield train station and, of course, healthy Ocado staff discounts (and free delivery) across our Webshops including GroceriesFetchSizzle and Fabled.

We also have Friday socials on the first Friday of every month, sports clubs such as badminton, running and table tennis (and much more), not to mention the Ocado Technology Academy for a packed schedule of courses, conferences and events such as discussion sessions, conference briefs and external guest speakers.
