We're Ocado Technology. We design and build the platform that powers Ocado, the world's largest online-only grocery retailer. We're also putting the world's retailers online, including Morrisons (the fastest growing online supermarket in the world), Fetch, Sizzle, and Fabled by Marie Claire.

We write and build all our own systems, from website to warehouse control systems, van routing systems to mobile apps, every system involved in our e-commerce and logistics operation has been carefully crafted by our team of passionate software engineers.

We have a rapidly expanding portfolio of amazing software products being developed in Barcelona. And we work closely with our development teams in our other centres around the world.

As part of the User Experience team within Ocado Technology, you will be responsible for producing world-class user experience solutions across our business tools. You’ll work collaboratively with Developers, Product owners, Researchers, other UX Designers and will be able to establish and maintain ongoing communications with key business stakeholders. You must have a passion for design & technology and keep up-to-date with the latest trends, sharing these with your fellow team members.

During the lifecycle of the Ocado business solutions you will act as a champion for customer centricity, productive collaboration and innovation. You will also be responsible for fighting the users corner while meeting business requirements.
You are a Designer with strong UX and some UI experience. You know the value of good usability testing in creating a valuable product. You like interacting with end users of the features designed by your team and deciding autonomously on the tools and methods you use to reach their needs.

What you'll do:

  • Have full responsibility of the UX of the projects you cover and manage UX workflows and documentation.
  • Produce and test interaction flows and mocks that accurately communicate product functionality to product owners, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Play an active role in encouraging iterative testing and familirasing all team members with users needs.
  • Enjoy problem solving and simplifying complex business workflow to enable end users achieve their work tasks efficiently.
  • Understand modern web and/or mobile environments such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android UI, and iOS UI, as well as how the technologies of each can be used to further enhance the overall experience.
  • Appreciate aesthetic details.

Your knowledge, skills and experience should include:

  • 5 years of overall professional experience in UX design area, preferably in creating business applications.
  • Strong experience in UX research area (e.g. moderated and remote user testing, user interviews, user-centered UX) - minimum 2 years,
  • Interaction and UI design skills,
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills  
  • Experience using Sketch, Balsamiq, Invision, Axure or similar wireframing and prototyping tools
  • A strong work portfolio with previous projects explaining your personal contribution.

Good to have skills and experience include: 

  • Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or Sociology degree,
  • Experience in facilitating co-creation of user journey maps, user flows, personas and any other users artefacts would be great.
  • Experience working in agile or lean development environment
  • Experience working with remote, distributed teams
