We're looking for seasoned User Experience brilliance and creative minds.

UX in Ocado Technology, who are we?

We are a very diverse bunch. Each of us brings something else to the team and together we lead design into a top of the range technology company building OSP (which stands for Ocado Smart Platform, selling Ocado’s innovative technology of highly successful e-commerce, fulfilment and logistics business to international retailers). OSP has been in the news lately having signed exciting deals with Casino (France) and Sobey’s (Canada). OSP clients are from around the world, and so are we. Did we say diverse already?
The UX team in OSP is 15 people strong and growing. In the last year alone we welcomed 6 members. There are nearly 20 areas within the product with complex interfaces that need our attention. We work autonomously on each of those areas and come together to inspire and critique. We work directly with developers, data scientists, product owners and writers.

What is out Design System?
Our Design System is used on all the retailer facing interfaces of OSP product (B2B). There are dozens of them and the Design System bring them all together to create one coherent product that's a pleasure to use daily.

What it's like to work with us, you ask?

  • Sync and collaborate with the UX team to align all of our products’ interfaces
  • Work collaboratively within an agile process with other designers and developers
  • Define and communicate the design direction using appropriate tools and deliverables to describe the intent
  • Champion and advocate the best design for our Design System users
  • Bring inspiring ideas and motivation to the UX team
  • Step up and represent design, sharing what we’re capable of and the impact we brought
  • Work autonomously, but need the team’s engagement for the Design System to succeed
  • Travelling across Ocado centres will be required. Ocado's international development centres situated in Krakow, Wroclaw, Barcelona and Sofia.

Who is the right person to join the team?

  • We look for a seasoned designer who has led design initiative before. Your portfolio should demonstrate at least 3 projects where you contributed to creating outstanding design
  • Your UI skills are impressive and simply beautiful
  • Your experience should span from research to design (sketches and pixel-perfect)
  • Because each team member works autonomously, we expect you to be able to drive UX activities with the development team; initiate and self-motivate your day to day activities
  • Your passion for work and life is contagious
  • Work is not only about graphics and colours; we need innovative ideas
  • Keen to work with other disciplines and apply empathy to them too, not just the end user
  • In one line: we need a problem solver.

What can we expect from us?

A real opportunity to grow and excel. You may want to sharpen a practice or work on your soft skills. Your personal development is important to us as much as it is to you
Autonomy isn’t just a word on paper. Every team member is encouraged to own their work and take pride in it. But when you need a hand, the team is always there

Benefits include a generous pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, free shuttle bus from Hatfield train station and, of course, healthy Ocado staff discounts (and free delivery) across our Webshops including GroceriesFetchSizzle and Fabled.
