Description

As a graduate Software Engineer, you will work on a variety of projects – from writing complex applications for our award-winning customer website to working on our route-planning software or writing crane and conveyor control software, or even user interface applications for our warehouse management system. You will be involved in the complete development lifecycle, from concept and design through to implementation, testing, and deployment.

We offer the opportunity for you to gain practical software development experience using Java along with other major programming languages and technologies: Scala (sometimes with Akka), AWS, Google platforms, Docker, Javascript, Python, Android and iOS just as a sample. Our teams use the agile methodologies that suit them best, from Kanban to Scrum to TDD.

Working in an informal environment with like-minded, smart and focused people, you will take up a hands-on role within our technology teams, working on real-world and business critical projects, with a good balance between training and support, autonomy, and flexibility.

You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with our international teams (based in Barcelona, Sofia, Krakow, and Wroclaw).

What we look for:

You have or are expecting a 2:1 or 1st class degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Software Engineering or similar numerate degree, backed up by strong A-levels (or equivalent), and have demonstrable OO programming ability in Java or another OO language.

Our software engineering opportunities suit high achievers with analytical minds, who enjoy creative problem-solving and find satisfaction in seeing complex projects through from start-to-finish.

As well as looking out for the best and brightest, we’re also looking for people who reflect our values – people who can learn fast through experimenting; who are autonomous through taking ownership and driving innovation; who are collaborative and work well in high-performing teams. We value trust, honesty, and craftsmanship.

We’re all about innovation and refusing to accept the status quo, so if you’re keen to push the limits of your learning – and our technology – we want to hear from you!

Recruitment Process:

The process will involve an initial online test, and if you pass that an assessment day will follow. This will include a technical test, a technical interview, and a paired-programming session. It’s not as scary as it sounds though! We’ve designed the process to be able to get to know you and to see what you’re capable of. You’ll also get lunch, and if you pass our morning session, a tour of our Hatfield CFC.

Please note that this is our non-rotational scheme. Current opportunities are for start dates from Summer 2018 but there may be options to start earlier/later.

What we can offer you:

This is a great opportunity for those who love solving problems; sometimes this involves looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding and fixing the problem can be extremely rewarding. This opportunity will allow you to work with complex software systems, code/deploy fixes, as well as write independent systems to make dealing with issues easier and faster for you and others.

We will pay you a competitive salary that will be reviewed twice a year up to your first three years post-graduation, plus all our usual benefits including 15% staff discount, Friday socials, a variety of sports clubs plus much more.
