Ocado Technology is developing a world class and highly innovative retail and fulfilment platform. The Ocado Smart Platform is a managed service capability hosted in the cloud to serve our retail partners. At the heart of the platform is the Cloud Services team, focussed on developing the services, tooling and controls required to operate the platform.

We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader to lead this team. The team is already well established and has been designing, implementing and maintaining a wide variety of cloud based services and applications. Automation, self service and first class support to our development teams, with continuous face to face involvement and knowledge sharing sessions lying at the heart of their success. The ideal candidate for this role will continue to drive these high standards forward, while collaborating closely with many other technical teams to support the ongoing innovation of Ocado Technology services.

As Team Leader, you will have experience of working in Agile, Lean teams, cooperating closely with Product Owners to schedule and resource the development and support efforts. The team are delivering to the requirements of our stakeholders and the overall vision of the Technology department.

While a technical background is essential, your primary focus is solving the non-technical challenges, collaborating with external stakeholders, improving processes, and team development. The role will require you to develop and manage an autonomous and highly effective team, working with individual team members to develop their skills and with the team as a whole to define and develop the technical solutions they will be responsible for. The role will also include working closely with other teams in the UK and throughout Europe.

  •  Managing, mentoring and running a technically focussed team
  • Commitment to supporting and maintaining solutions on an ongoing basis
  • Understanding of infrastructure reliability, scalability, maintainability and security
  • An appreciation for DevOps methods (communication, collaboration, integration & automation)
  • Working with Scrum, Kanban or other Lean methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

We'd also like to talk to you if you have... 

  • Experience of Public Cloud technologies
  • An understanding of Web Application architectures
  • A continuous delivery approach and mindset
  • Experience of workflow tools (such as Jira)
