Changing the way the world shops requires great Engineers
Not only did we set out to build an online grocery business from scratch, we set out to build it around our customers. Today, we’re not only completely unique in what we do, we’re so far ahead if the development curve, we’re unstoppable.
And while we’re a multi-national business employing more than 11,000 people, delivering around 200,000 grocery orders every week, and the UK’s best online supermarket for 3 years running, we still have all the enthusiasm, ideas and energy that drove our entrepreneurial start up.
That means that while no one else offers customers what we offer, no one else offers engineers these kinds of opportunities: to further advance end-to-end online shopping and delivery solutions with ground breaking innovation, technology and engineering at its heart.
Becoming an Ocado Engineer means becoming one of the ambitious team that is building the future.
Designing, developing and delivering the machinery that enables continuous innovation requires fresh thinking, insatiable curiosity and a pioneering attitude.
If you’re also a mechanical engineer with an MHE background, this is your opportunity to be part of something special, unique, challenging and, ultimately, something that is changing the way the world shops forever.
Here, you’ll join a dynamic, innovative and supportive team, collaborating with colleagues in Engineering, R&D and Projects to advise from the integration of MHE to building structure and M&E. That includes providing conceptual and detailed design, assisting with new distribution centre projects and developing sites across the UK and overseas. Key to your success will be your ability to work effectively to deadlines with internal teams and external partners and contractors.
Whether you’re qualified to HND or degree level in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline, or have equivalent experience and have the technical ability in automation hardware that comes with experience gained in a similar MHE environment, you’ll also have working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D Solid Modelling software, plus ideally of Trimble SketchUp and of carrying out engineering and structural calculations.
As ours is a dynamic, forward-looking, innovative environment, you’ll also need to bring the skills and knowledge essential to identifying and implementing business development opportunities. That includes a proactive approach to problem solving, great people and team working skills, and the ability to thrive on change and challenge.
