Vacancy description

We’re Ocado Technology. We architect and build the ground-breaking, game-changing technology solutions that power Ocado, the world's largest online-only grocery retailer. We don’t do off-the-shelf. We don’t do easy. Because we’re writing, building and running all our own software systems, we’re constantly pushing the limits of what technology can do. And when we say ‘we’, we mean ‘you’. Join us and you’ll work across a phenomenal breadth of technology, with incredibly smart people, to create reliable, resilient, scalable and optimised software systems.

So what does an intern software developer do at Ocado Technology?

As an intern with Ocado Technology you will work on real development projects from day one and have the opportunity to see the code you develop working in a live production environment. Past interns have worked on projects across all Technology areas including:

CFC (Warehouse) Systems develop the real-time control systems that power our state- of-the-art automated warehouse requiring smart software and even brighter minds.

Routing and Customer Communications build the routing systems which optimise our delivery routes and develop the software created for our call centre and payment systems.

Webshop and Mobile Systems design and implement iOS applications to aid the shopping experience for our customers and enhance functionality of our award winning Webshop and associated destination sites.

Robotics Research develop novel sensor-guided robot solutions to further automate the highly automated manipulation of products within the CFCs.

Placement Opportunities Placements are available for 12 months, 6 months, 4 months and 10 weeks (Summer Internship) commencing in September, April, June and July respectively.

Requirements: You have achieved a minimum 2:1 for each of your course modules to date in a Numerical or Computer Science related degree. You will have strong A-levels (or equivalent) including an A grade in Maths. Ideally you also have a foundation in OOP.

What we can offer you

Technically stretching work is a given. We want you to push technological boundaries and create solutions to problems people haven’t even thought about yet; so we’ll give you the freedom and the tools and the playful, stimulating working environment you need to do what’s never been done before.
